Since 2015 I photograph demonstrations, trying to be an objective observer. In a rapidly changing society it seems to me that demonstrations are events where social shifts & political discourses happen in real time, a certain Zeitgeist is shaped. Chanting and the renewed importance of icons & flags point towards an accelerated debate. At the same time I am grateful that this form of democracy is allowed. The sheer variety of demonstrations and events in the heart of berlin, all colours, mirroring in its entirety a broad section of society is a liberal joy. Especially considering the growing amount of countries where this is no longer possible, also looking back at the very same location in 1933-1945.
